School Counselor

Drug, alcohol, tobacco and violence prevention programs implemented annually at FHPI are:

*Too Good For Drugs II Curriculum (4th, 5th and now 6th grades)

*Mobile Infirmary's "Drug Bus" with Mr. John Aikens (5th grade only)

*School-wide Anti-Bullying Power Point and Pledge is presented to parents at annual fall PTO meetings as well as the initial faculty/staff meeting. Our Faculty and Staff Pledge signed by all faculty and staff and displayed on large poster board in the School Library.

*Whole Group counseling lessons in classrooms, accompanied with ALCAP brochures for each student, address the following:

Bullying, Violence, Anger Management, Struggle to Resolve Conflict and building Character.

                *NET CETERA, Chatting with Kids About Being Online, booklets are distributed to each student to be shared with their parents. (Addresses Cyber-bullying as well as other internet dangers.)

                *Care House:  Keeping Our Kids Safe information/activities and student handouts (4th & 5th grades)

                *Volunteers from Thomas Hospital Ladies Aux. Present Child Lures Program (5th grade only)

                 *Representatives from The Lighthouse address bullying and violence (4th grade only)
